Little did Jaylene know, Bryan challenged Ricky to a fight. Last man standing got Jaylene. She was still asleep when Ricky left to fight Bryan. He wrote her a note that she was supposed to read if he never came back. The fight was supposed to be harmless. Jaylene wondered where Ricky had been all day. She went to his house and his parents said he went to the school parking lot to meet his friend, Bryan. Jaylene knew that couldn't be right. Ricky and Bryan weren't friends. She called Bryan, something she thought she'd never do. "Hello?" A woman answered the phone. "Hello, Mrs. Masters. Can I speak to Bryan please?" she asked, wishing she didn't have to sink this low. "Oh, hello. You must be Jaylene Wilson, aren't you? He's been expecting your call. Hang on." Jaylene was confused. How did Bryan's mom know who she was? When Bryan got on the line, he explained about the fight he and Ricky had and he said he just left him there. He hung up on him and ran as fast as she could to the school parking lot. When she got there, she saw Ricky. There was a puddle of blood around where he was lying. There was a slit in Ricky's throat, and a blood stained knife nearby. Bryan sunk as low as to kill Ricky. There was a piece of folded up paper lying beside him. She opened it. It was a note to her. He knew he was gonna die. It read:
"Dearest Jaylene,
I love you so dearly. I knew that Bryan would kill me. I want you to be strong. I went to the fight even though I knew the outcome because I wanted to keep you safe and I told you I'd die for you because that's how much I loved you and cared about you. Live like it's the last day of your life because you never know when it will be. I love you with all my heart, Jaylene.
My only true love,
I love you.
Ricky Alvarez"
